Ben Wrigley Counsellor in Tunbridge Wells
The idea of counselling can be a daunting prospect for anyone and especially when you are already finding life tough. I offer a safe and confidential space just outside Tunbridge Wells where I invite you to come and discuss your needs. I don’t charge for our first meeting while we decide if we canto work together. My Philosophy: People usually come to counselling at a point of crisis in their lives. Something in their life is preventing them from being the best that they believe they can be. They can feel limited by the choices in front of them and there can seem no way forward. Working this through can be a struggle alone and even with help from loved ones. I believe there is always a functional path out, and the process of counselling – with someone trained to listen, understand, care and guide – can help to find that path. About my work: There are many different models of talking therapy and as a BACP registered integrative and humanistic counsellor, I focus therapy on the unique needs of my clients. Drawing on a number of different methods – combined with feedback and personal experiences – I offer a therapy geared to you. I work relationally, meaning that it is my belief that offering a safe and supportive alliance with my clients is paramount to our work together before we explore how the past is impacting the present. I have worked successfully with all ages and genders with depression, stress, suicide, bereavement, anxiety, OCD, anorexia, relationships, abuse, trauma, sexual issues, low self-steem, panic attacks, affairs. Why I became a counsellor: I used to commute to the city to work in the private sector – mostly in senior managerial roles – for both small and large companies. During this time I saw first-hand how we feel we are expected to function in the best interests of our work / team / family / relationship, to ‘fall in line’ and ‘do’ publicly whilst ‘feeling’ privately or – in too many cases – not feel at all. I witnessed the detrimental effect this had on people’s well-being, self-esteem, autonomy and general happiness and the lack of support on offer when life became stressful. If you have any questions or would like to set up a free meeting to discuss your needs please feel free to call or email me.
